Dr. Shanan is an Angel - Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
As a dog owner it is one of the hardest and most painful decisions you will make, when your beloved furry family member is suffering. Wrigley, our Golden Retriever, enriched our lives and our family for over 13 years. But the lymphoma took hold and we couldn’t bear to see her in agony. We arranged to have a home visit with Compassionate Hospice. Dr. Shanan arrived and respectfully, patiently, and with ultimate kindness and humanity helped us all through the process. Wrigley is now in heaven with her sister Cookie. We are devastated. But we take comfort in knowing she is happy now and that we made the perfect decision in reaching out to Dr. Shanan and his team.
Last night, we said goodbye to our sweet friend, Nilley. We can’t say enough about the kindness and care we received from everyone at Compassionate Vet Hospice. From our phone conversations to nurse visits to his last bittersweet breath, we were ALL treated with respect, dignity and LOVE. Thank you Dr. Shanan and crew for making us feel like we did everything possible to love our dog to the bittersweet end.
Dakota and Minnie
We originally had Dr. Shanan work with us when our dog, Minnie, had neurological issues. He has helped us ease her pain in her later years. Unfortunately, soon after his visit, our other dog, Dakota, became gravely ill. Dr. Shanan was booked for most of the day but came out early that morning. We were so grateful that he was able to come out, even though it was the most difficult decision we ever had to make. He allowed Dakota to pass peacefully at home surrounded by his family and Minnie.
Saying Good Bye to my BuddyWiser
I called the office on a Friday to make an appt for in-home euthanasia for my Buddy. I could barely speak and Jodi was so incredibly kind and patient with me. Even though their schedule was full on Saturday, Jodi and Dr. Shanan were able to schedule a visit very early in the morning. We were so grateful, even though it was the hardest decision we ever had to make. Dr. Shanan came to our home and was kind, patient, sympathetic, compassionate, etc. He proceeded with this tough task with gentle hands and allowed us to have as much time with our sweet puppy as we needed. I am very thankful and appreciative to Dr. Shanan and CVH.
Thank you to EVERYONE at Compassionate Pet Hospice!
Thank you, Dr Shanan, Liat, Jodi, Greer, Gretel, Leigh, and Armando for all your help and support during Cupid’s later years and also for helping with Tiger from 2005 until her passing in December 2010 at age 22. I am glad I found you in September 2005 after I had surgery and was not allowed to lift more than 5 lbs for a month, and Tiger needed veterinary care at home. Also, I will always be grateful for your support and counseling towards the end of my Mother’s life, especially how you called me on Thanksgiving morning, 2013, when my Mom was at Seasons Hospice at Weiss Hospital. Other than Seasons Hospice where the doctors and staff were VERY helpful and supportive, none of her doctors bothered to call, visits, or provide support. I will always remember how you visited us on my Mom’s 99th birthday, two days before she died. You provide an invaluable and much-needed service to pet parents throughout Chicagoland.
The Team at Compassionate Pet Hospice is Great!
I’m so glad Libby is under Dr. Shanan’s care. Both Libby and I have gone back to living and not worrying about whether she will pass today. We are both doing great. Thank you Dr. Shanan and everyone at Compassionate Veterinary Hospice.
